This caught my ear recently, Hey, Little Girl by The Nomads:

It's on the 5 CD C'mon C'mon scottish box.
It is also on the Return Of The Amphetamine Generation LP,
where it's here reviewed as a downer song, whatever:

Since the lp title has a drug reference, maybe the reviewer was making a drug reference as well & in that regard, I'd agree - although I'd use "bummer" instead of "downer". Definitely a song that doesn't bear repeated listening. The singer sounds like he's 30 while the writer & the musicians must be in their mid-teens.

It's a simple peppy tune, I like it, can listen to it over and
over again. From that same LP compilation the last song is Morning
Dew by the Pakka-Jax, that's a downer, 33:11 into the video:

I prefer Tim Roses's version. "Morning Dew" is a classic "downer" song;
I have more than 20 versions of the song, myself.

Guitar riff reminds me of "Liar Liar" by the Castaways.

Staccatos "The One To Lose" reminds me of that song:

They're both 1965 songs.
