The Outsiders - Time Won't Let Me (1966) Stereo. From EMI's Legendary Masters series of audio CDs. It appears the series came to a sudden halt, with some projects sold off to others to publish. Maybe inadequate sound quality caused it and/or (goofy) people really didn't care to hear studio talk. For example, I assume this song was remixed, but it lost something in the process. I know it lacks bass, and even though I feel I'm decent at restoring audio (*smile*), I can improve it some, but enough to compete with the stereo album version.
This EMI series is similar to MCA's Vintage Music series (both sold used for peanuts), that I also value, which I understand Mike Callahan, of Both Sides Now (stereo chat forum) gave them (CDs) a poor audio grade. That I will agree, but with a bit a digital audio enhancement, they can be salvaged. Actually. it was, "Hold On", by The Raidiants that got me started digitally enhancing songs, because it sounded very impressive on a vinyl LP, but stunk on CD (mastering by Steve Hoffman). Actually, I think it remastered a couple times. Anyway, not sure how much The Outsiders participated in this song (maybe vocals only), as it sounds like studio musicians to my ears. Besides, the count-off sounds like an older adult!! Extended ending...

In stereo! Gee, what a common find!!! In fact, this is one of the most
commonly found Mid-Sixties hits in stereo on compilation disks. I have
several different CDs and I have never come across a mono version. Wouldn't
THAT be rare?

The above is admitted by you to be unsubstantiated nonsense.

Extended ending...
A few more seconds of an already overblown ending that were wisely removed
on commercial releases.

-- Whatever YOU wish to believe in your fantasy world is okay with me. You probably think The Grass Roots played all their music and even Gary Lewis & The Playboys. I had to, even though I knew what I'd find, visit YouTube you can find The Outsiders performing this song "live". Too much out of sync sound vocals, echo like, since they played to some record, with a drummer who even I could top!!!!!

Mono on the Nuggets 4 disc box set.
I was suspicious of this set. Songs that were in stereo on the original
record are mono on here. There are still a few stereo songs over the 4
discs. I hope no one was stupid enough to do a fold down of stereo into
mono.

I don't follow you here. "Time Won't Let Me" was recorded in stereo but
was originally released in mono - the 45 was released before the lp (by
at least a couple of months). Which records on Nuggets do you think
were released in stereo before they were released in mono? A lot of the
songs on Nuggets weren't even released on lp around the time the 45 was
released.

Single releases were often mixed differently than the album versions &
often edited as well, although sometimes it was the lp version that was
edited. And sometimes the song was even re-recorded for lp release.
Back in those days even the stereo & mono versions of the albums were
known to differ on mixes, edits & even occasionally versions of the
tracks that appeared on them. For example, ? & the Mysterians recorded
a stereo version of "96 Tears" but it didn't appear on the lp release at
the time; in fact it wasn't released at all until a few years ago when
Cameo/Parkway decided to start releasing its catalog on CD.

Nuggets tried to use the hit version whenever it was available, which
usually meant the mono 45 version - & which is one reason why you won't
find Nuggets in Uni's collection.

I have the original vinyl of Nuggets, the 2 record set from the early
70s. I know there are a few stereo songs there, the same ones now in
mono on the more recent 4 disc set. I would have to go and check which
ones. Back in the early 70s I get the impression there was a bias for
stereo. Unless I'm wrong, I Had To Much To Dream Last Night, for
example is in stereo on the original Nuggets record, but now in mono. I
don't want to guess too much about what was in stereo. I think Liar
Liar is in stereo too now that I think about it, mono on the newer
Nuggets CD. And others. Maybe The Chocolate Watchband song too. Liar
Liar in particularly is better in stereo.

My point was that Time Won't Let Me is in mono on Nuggets after you said
you didn't have any in mono.

I only bought one of the original Nuggets' lps - Vol 6, Punk II. I
think I bought it so that I'd have a clean copy of Public Execution.

Anyway, comparisons between the vinyl & CD box:
Electric Prunes - Get Me to the World on Time is in stereo - mono on the
CD box (the mono version is slightly longer & has a different mix),
Nightcrawlers - Little Black Egg is in stereo but it's an edit of the lp
version & longer than the single version which appears on the CD boxset,
Shadows of Knight - stereo on the lp but it's about 10 seconds shorter
than the single version on the boxset & a different mix.

Some of the songs on that lp didn't make it to the Nuggets box set:
Black Pearl - Forget It (stereo), Grass Roots - Mr. Jones (stereo),
Seeds - Try to Understand (poor stereo), Steppenwolf - Sookie Sookie
(stereo), Unrelated Segments - Where You Gonna Go

BTW, although the mixes are of course different, I don't hear much
difference in the single & lp versions of "Time Won't Let Me" except
that some of the horns are not as shrill in the mono version. The lp
version has an ever so slightly longer fade with a few more words.

In my CD collection, no, you are correct. But on vinyl, I had my taste of them. Horrendous sound quality!! Probably all rips from old vinyl records!! Like anyone gave a poop about mono versions!! Nuggets was issued to those who don't really care about sound quality. I guess those who produced them think, these fan idiots liked them on limited sound quality AM radio, so we'll feed 'em the same!! Nuggets sound quality is like, Made In China!! Garbage!
