Paul Revere & The Raiders 1960's Tour Trivia

Hello all. I was doing some research on Paul Revere & The Raiders, when
I came upon some of the google discussion groups. Wow, a lot of
passionate PR&R folks. I especially like the fans from the Seattle
Portland area, because, back in the early 60s, those parts of the
country were as foreign to us as Britian. I think PR&R put those cities
on the map as much as the other way around.

I collect concert ticket stubs dated pre 1970, and of course have
acquired MANY Paul Revere ticket stubs. Can anyone recall any of the
opening acts throughout their many years on the road? I'll assume that
their earliest tour (64 or 65) was typically ganged with local bands
from the cities in which they played. By the 66 and 67 tours, it was
not unusual to take other happening bands with you for the entire tour,
or at least a large part of the tour.

This is probably outside the scope of your interest, but I worked opposite
the Raiders at Harrah's Tahoe '74 or '75. There were one or two (probably
two) other acts on the bill also. Our group was Sanetti & Rueda & the
Portraits.

bob, thanks for direting me to the paul revere 1967 review of the show.
i'm continually amazed at the sheer number of performers on any given
night, this one being no excepetion

Hi,
I saw PR and the R's at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City in early July
'67.They were there for 2 days around Independance day. It was
shortly after the "new" Raiders joined. I think Steve Alaimo opened
the show and I remember Charlie Coe having a solo vocal on Spencer
Davis' Gimme Some Lovin'. I remember they played the record of "The
Legend of Paul Revere" before the band was introduced.
We spoke to them after the show...nice guys. They seemed sincerely
interested to know how we liked the show. (We were12 year old boys).
My buddy kept asking PR what his real name was and PR stayed very good
natured while dodging the subject. Still have the autographs.

he was born Paul Revere Dick

later legally shortned it to Paul Revere
