I was just reading on some website, but cannot recall the name or the
URL but if you type in Jimmy Bilsbury and The Magic Lanterns, you will
see a website that says that he died from a heart attack last year
sometime, over in Bonn Germany. He was born in 1943 which made him 60
years old, which is also very hard to believe. He sang the lead on their
"Shame Shame LP and the hit Shame Shame.

I guess this means no Magic Lanterns reunions at all in the near
future? Unless of course they find a replacement.

That song was great and was a huge hit in NC. Jimmy did a great job on the
vocals. He had that deep ballsy voice like the lead men in Crow and BS&T.

I am sad to hear that, he was a great singer. BTW: Is their bass player
Frank "Oz" Osbourne the same person as the later Black Sabbath singer?
The guy on the "Shame Shame" album sleeve looks quite a lot like him.

Cheers,

Yes,but his name is Mike and not Frank Osbourne, and yes Atlantic
Records confirmed this, along with a few other people, such as the
reissue label Collectables, and Albert Hammond has said so as
well.Albert was also a member of the band, just at different times.I
guess it all depends on who you ask and talk too. Most fans don't
believe it is the same guy,but yet I don't believe for a minute that a
guy who was in the band like Albert Hammond would lie about such a
thing.Nor would The Lanterns label either.

If anything it is Ozzy who refuses to admit he was a member of the
band. It's as plain as day that it's him.Unless Ozzy has a twin brother
it is him.Even the liner notes in the Collectables Cd says it was
confirmed years ago,and that it was just a sidegig at the time for
Ozzy.I think Ozzy has a hard time admiting he was in the band for that
one LP,because years later he most likely admitted to himself, and not
the public or his fans, that The Lanterns music was nothing but English
Tripe Bubblegum, like the style of Tony Burrows, and I guess Ozzy has a
hard time dealing with the fact that he played with a Bubblegum
band,so his excuse, and answer the whole time is,I was never in that
band.

It's not like he continued on other projects with them. It was only
that one album, geez. And to me,I like and prefer The Lanterns music
over Black Sabbath.I can't stand heavy metal.Give me Bubblegum any day
of the week.At least it's not noise,and doesn't give me a headache.

Sorry, my memory didn't serve me, I just had a look on the original
album. You're right, the name is Frank.

I Like The Lanterns and I Like Heayy Metal (especialy British bands like
Saxon or Motörhead) as well. In fact, I like (almost) all kinds of music
from Blues to R'n'R, 60's Beat, 70's Rock and 80's HM, but I realy can't
stand noise like Rap, Hip Hop and Techno, this gives me a headache.

BTW: have a look at this url:
