I am searching for any information about the Australian Rockin Vickers
(1966 onwards) - there are a couple of sites with very brief mentions
of the band but nothing substantial. There is also a band called Tin
Pan Alley that I would like info. about that several of the member of
the Aussie Vickers were in subsequently. - ANY info will do about
either of these bands

This is a tough one to research! The band's full name was "Rev. Black and
the Rockin' Vicars" and there was a far better-known Breitish band with the
same name at the same time. There also seems to have been another Australian
"Rockin' Vicars" in Sydney in the mid-1980s.

The best info I could find at first was on this site (scroll down to the
last paragraph):

http://olddigger.tripod.com/rockinvickers.htm

There is a cute mention of them playing at the 1967 Hoadleys here:

http://www.milesago.com/Misc/hoadleys.htm

They are listed as "on the roster" at Sunshine Records:

http://www.milesago.com/industry/sunshine.htm

using their record label as a clue I found their discography and band
line-up (as well as an explanation for the duplicate band name):

http://www.manchesterbeat.com/bands/revblack/australian.htm

Which should be enough for you to find the rest of what you are looking for.

Fun! Will tackle Tin Pan Alley later.

Cheers

Thanks Greg, I turned up most of those also - The Rockin Vickers of
the 80's were not the same band apparently - I mailed Jason Beale who
was the trumpet player and he confirmed this.

In case you're interested, the reason I'm looking for this info is
that I have good reason to believe I am related to their vocalist,
Dave Rossall and I'm following leads to prove/disprove this. The Dave
Rossall I am looking for info on emigrated in 1966 to Wollongong from
St Annes/Blackpool and was a guitarist, but I have it from a good
source that he wasn't in the UK Vickers but was in another Fylde based
band called The Spiders, or Bruce and the Spiders. It's all a bit too
coincidental on the positive details so I'm wondering what the
original source for the information on the sites you mention was. I've
mailed the Oldigger site about this and I also managed to track down
the email address of Harry Feeney, the vocalist for the UK Vickers to
see if he knows anything about the Aussie version of the band.

I couldn't find anything else apart from a mention here :
http://www.borderlinebooks.com/australia/r3.html which I got the Tin
Pan Alley lead from. This site is a bit unpredictable tho - its on and
off.

Anyway, thanks for your time on this - I'll post up anything else I
find

Neat -- I can't get to that site lately at all, though.

Happy hunting!
