Anyone in the northeast should be able to hear WKBW at
night on any decent AM radio set. 1520 Saturday night is
an all request oldies show 7Pm -midnight. Actually
pretty good; they play stuff you usually don't hear
on generic oldies stations. Late 50's early 60s
rock and roll. KB's web site http://www.kb1520.com/

He's been doing a good show weeknights 8 to 10.
Occasionally will tell the history behind a hit
song.

I don't know how WWKB is doing in the ratings or
selling commercials, but they do a better oldies
format than the generic oldies stations on FM,
like "KOOL 96-7" out of southwest Connecticut.
Which probably were satellite fed anyway, or today
probably store the entire playlist on a hard drive
as mp3s. Hopefully at 320K....

God,I remember WKBW in the 60's.At night,it came in pretty well
(on average) in the Boston area. The moment I remember best is
hearing Jimi's "All Along The Watchtower" being played. The
"special effects" on the record itself combined with the
distinctive sound you got from the sation (given its distance)
made that song sound even greater.

That's back when "KB" was in its prime, album oriented top 40. The
current KB wouldn't touch Hendrix. That aside, I give them credit for
their efforts in bringing back what was probably the best contemporary
station in its day. Definately the best I ever heard.

Today's KB plays basically the same (with exceptions), safe, "family
tunes", week after week, much like any other Oldies station. They stay
pretty much away from the Psychedelic era and many Garage classics. You
will not hear Hendrix. Regardless, I do like to listen to the classic
patter of Jackson Armstrong. At least that part still retains the KB edge.

Along with Danny Neaverth and Sandy Beach. These guys sound as good as
ever. I don't remember Tom Donohue from back in the day. He must have
joined at some later point in time but listening to his all request
show, he certainly has that "KB" style.
The question now is what direction will KB go now that PD Hank Nevins
had resigned?
