Most Sexully Explict Songs Of The Sixties

Since the sixties was the era of burning bras to the beginning of the
Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll generation, I thought I would try that
one out.

I thought I would try out five, but can only think of three:

Mony, Mony - Tommy James and The Shondells
Cherry Hill Park - Billy Joe Royal
96 Tears - Question Mark and The Mysterians

Hm. I wouldn't have picked any of those!

I assume you are ignoring R & B, or else you'd have quite the long list...

Well satisfaction I think would win when it comes to hit songs.

garage rock would be a good place to start for these, how about Beaver
Patrol by the Wilde Knights? Don't have to tell you what that means.

But in the song, he "cant get no" satisfaction. I think he was

I think "Under My Thumb" was/is quite explicit...
And there are probably other lesser known Stones songs which
might fit the criteria.

I think Jagger is not singing about his thumbs on his hands... :-)

Under My Thumb (Jagger/Richards)

Under my thumb
The girl who once had me down
Under my thumb
The girl who once pushed me around

It's down to me
The difference in the clothes she wears
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb

Ain't it the truth babe?

Under my thumb
The squirmin' dog who's just had her day
Under my thumb
A girl who has just changed her ways

It's down to me, yes it is
The way she does just what she's told
Down to me, the change has come
She's under my thumb
Ah, ah, say it's alright

Under my thumb
A siamese cat of a girl
Under my thumb
She's the sweetest, hmmm, pet in the world

It's down to me
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Ah, take it easy babe
Yeah

It's down to me, oh yeah
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Yeah, it feels alright

Under my thumb
Her eyes are just kept to herself
Under my thumb, well I
I can still look at someone else

It's down to me, oh that's what I said
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Say, it's alright

Say it's all...
Say it's all...

Take it easy babe
Take it easy babe
Feels alright
Take it, take it easy babe

"Under my thumb" means "completely under my control". She used to have a
mind of her own, but now she "does just what she's told" and only "talks
when she's spoken to."

The line "She's the sweetest, hmmm, pet in the world" certainly is meant
to suggest a certain sexual term (coming as it does after the reference
to a cat), but apart from that verse he's singing about power and
control, not sex.

Well, it might be my dirty mind, but I think the song is about
Jagger receiving oral sex from a girl, who previously spurned him,
but now that he is more famous, "has just changed her ways".

The line "It's down to me" is basically "She's down on me", but of
course that wouldn't have passed the censors, obviously.

And the end is quite telling :

Under my thumb
Her eyes are just kept to herself
Under my thumb, well I
I can still look at someone else

Feels alright
Take it, take it easy babe

"Her eyes just kept to herself"... well :-) And just listen to that
nasty breathing noises Jagger does at the end of the song. Sorry, but
for me this is quite a sexually explicit song, and I wonder how it
did pass the censors...

I am aware of the original meaning of the phrase "under my thumb", by
the way... I am shaking my head in disbelief that people don't see
what is this song about... :-)

It was the 60s, with censorship and all. The word maybe "implied"
or "descriptive" instead of "explicit". As for the "girl that pushed
me around", it is simply dodging Mick's ( sexual ) advances ( before
he was beter known. ) Did anyone listen to the song recently ?
I did...

But given that there seems to be songs that were explicit, then implied
doesn't count. Because outright explicit trumps implied explicit
any day.

Like I said, "love my love thing" seems more explicit than a lot
of the suggested songs.

"Triad" by David Crosby, but recorded by the Jefferson Airplane on
"Crown of Creation" seems more explicit than an implied reference,
given that it's not merely talking about sex, but a threesome.

The only out is that the sixties were a long period, of a lot of
change. Something that was merely implied at the beginning of
the decade would have no significance towards the end, when actual
explicit lyrics took over from lyrics that merely implied

To 'the girl that pushed me around"? So he was dominated sexually by
this vixen until he trained her?! I think not. Jagger always prances
and does venting things in a lot of songs.

Now how about the Beatles' 'Come Together' and Zeps' 'The Lemon Song'?

There is no domination at all, simply the girl rejected Mick's
sexual advances. But she changed her mind after Mick ( and the
band ) became better known.

Exactly. Here he is telling how this girl a "squirming dog" now,
when before she looked through him. Mick was bitter, but now he
got her, where he wanted her, doing the nasty. Typical Mick.
Have you listened to the song recently ? I did...
Pay close attention to the end too.

Now how about the Beatles' 'Come Together' and Zeps' 'The Lemon Song'?
Good suggestions. Did anyone mentioned Divinyls' "I touch myself" ?
( Not Sixties, of course, as the following songs aren't all, either. )
Then there is a mostly instrumental one, the Atlantics' "Beaver Shot",
"Lola" by the Kinks, "Rock Candy" by Montrose, "Suzy Is A Headbanger"
by The Ramones, "AC-DC" by the Sweet, the Troggs had a few explicit
songs, "Touch Me" by Fancy, and many others...

That's what went down (pardon the pun) in the sixties,
then Mick became a queer and put out crap like "She's The Boss".

In later years, he would sing this ode to another queer, David Bowie.

Like Slim Pickens would say, "A couple of Kansas City Faggots"
dancin' in the street.

the way... I am shaking my head in disbelief that people don't see
what is this song about... :-)
Cheers, Csaba
To 'the girl that pushed me around"? So he was dominated sexually by
this vixen until he trained her?! I think not.
There is no domination at all, simply the girl rejected Mick's
sexual advances. But she changed her mind after Mick ( and the
band ) became better known.
Ahh yes, of course we all see..-). "And Mary had a little
lamb"...really means! Well, I have to concede it's a nice 'story'.
And the next time I sing it in karaoke, I will do it your style to see
if there are any girls ready "to change her way". And of course when
Mick is going through a few "take it easy's" in the last part, that
really means, 'the braces must come off soon'!...Right?

Jagger always prances and does venting things in a lot of songs.
Exactly. Here he is telling how this girl a "squirming dog" now,
when before she looked through him. Mick was bitter, but now he
got her, where he wanted her, doing the nasty. Typical Mick.
Have you listened to the song recently ? I did...
Pay close attention to the end too.
Post by c***@webtv.net
Csaba
Gee, I think "I Touch Myself" would mean well uhhh...nothing to really
talk about as a trophy..-).

What a question! The answer is of course Mick Jagger!!! I mean there
are about 4 or 5 pics of Keith looking a little bit sexy, but Mick is
absolutely the bomb! The way he sings, dances, smiles, shakes his ass,
moves... Whoa! I didn´t like the short hair period of steel wheels
though. - I´m still dreaming of meeting Mr. Monkey Man one day and then
he´ll have me under his thumb, making me his monkey woman, enjoying his
sex drive, blowing his mind and his...but i got carried away, have to
behave now.

Can't believe almost 50 posts in this thread and nobody has mentioned
"Louie Louie". I was a DJ on a radio station in New England when it
came out and had to fight to air it. Management THOUGHT they knew what
the lyrics said! I convinced them it was just atrocious articulation.
In any event the youth of America imagined their own lyrics and took it
from there.

How about a GREAT uptempo Soul record from '65, like:

"Take Me In Your Arms (And Rock Me A Little While) by Kim Weston"

a Holland-Dozier-Holland composition released on Motown's Gordy label,
and a major hit and major oldie in Philadelphia. Lyrics as follows
(imagine a great Soul vocalist paired with a pounding, scorching, funky
uptempo laid down by Funk Brothers, the Motown house band, if you
haven't heard it, the kind of song cut from the same bolt of cloth as
Heat Wave of a couple years earlier) :

"I know you're leavin' me behind
I'm seein' you darlin' for the very last time
Show a little tenderness before you go
Please let me feel your embrace once more

Take me in your arms and rock me, rock me a little while
We all must feel heartache sometimes
Right now, right now I'm feelin' mine

I've tried my best to be strong, but I'm not able
I'm like a helpless child left in a cradle
Before you leave me behind let me feel happy one more time

I'm losin' you and my happiness
My life is do dark I must confess
I'll never, never see your smiling face no more
I'll never, never hear your knock upon my door
Before you leave me leave me behind
Let me feel happy one more time

Take me in your arms and rock me, rock me a little while" (repeat)

Oh, of course. And I had the little sky blue 45 rpm at one time (now
I have this on CD);
always forgetting things right under my nose. The lyrics don't sounds
as poetical translated into English, but since no one blushed anymore,
Harold Groot supplied a good translations a couple of years ago.
[note: anyone familiar with foreign languages knows how ham-handed it
can be to translate words literally, and people "never get" it unless
they have reached the level of thinking in another language, then and
only then do they know how to translate something;....imagine a
foreigner brought up in another tongue trying to understand what "back
in the day" means for the first time, without benefit of understanding
how idiomatic and idiosyncratic vernacular and regional English can
be]. Okay, first the original words in French, and then a better (but
dead on center, English translation):

Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg studio version:

Je t'aime je t'aime
Oh oui je t'aime!
- Moi non plus.
- Oh mon amour...
- Comme la vague irrésolue
Je vais je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Et je Me retiens

- Je t'aime je t'aime
- Oh oui je t'aime!
- Moi non plus.
- Oh mon amour...
Tu es la vague, moi l'île nue
Tu vas tu vas et tu viens
Entre mes reins

Tu vas et tu viens
Entre mes reins
Et je Te re-joins

Je t'aime je t'aime
Oh oui je t'aime!

Tu vas et tu viens
Entre mes reins
Et je Te re-joins

- Je t'aime je t'aime
- Oh oui je t'aime!

- Oh mon amour...
L'amour physique est sans issue

Je vais je vais et je viens

Although this Serge Gainsbourg classic has been covered several times in
English (notably by Nick Cave with various collaborators), I couldn't find
English lyrics anywhere on the web.
The English version is literally titled "I Love You - Nor Do I" if that
helps.
Can anybody give me a hand?
Using a google search on ["I Love You Nor Do I" lyrics] led to this:
========================================================================

I recommend anyone seeking a good English translation of the beautiful
song, Je T'Aime (Moi Non Plus), to check out Mick Harveys version
featuring Nick Cave and Anita Lane. Not a perfect translation but it
is one of the best I've come across. The lyrics (not printed in the
sleeve but posted on a Mick Harvey mailinglist);
<----------------------------------------------> I love you I love you
Oh yes I love you

Nor do I

Oh my love

Like the wave Irresolute

I go I go and I come Inside you my love I go and I come Inside you my
love And then I hold on

I love you I love you Oh Yes I love you

Nor do I

You are the wave And I the naked island You go you go and you come you
go and you come inside me my love and then we are one

I love you I love you Oh yes I love you Nor do I

Oh my love

Like the wave irresolute

I go I go and I come Inside you my love I go and I come Inside you my
love And then I hold on

(orgasms--universal, i think, in any language)

I love I love you my love Inside me my love I love you my love Deep
inside me my love And then we are one

I love you I love you Oh yes I love

Nor do I

Oh my love

Physical love is a dead end*

I go I go and I come Inside you my love I go and I come And I hold on

Now...come

(orgasms again)
..........................................................................................................................

*another translation says "physical love is without exit" I think Mick
Harvey's translation is good, but it is still a bit rough. You should
check out the song--Anita Lane and Nick Cave (from the Bad seeds--"red
right hand")

Actually, the translation bears out as:

"Jerk T'om, my non-plussed"

Like a wave resolute, I bid you goodby!!!!

I am a naked island and you are like fucking Gilligan, you
schlmiel!!!

You come and go you come and go you come and go and then you emerge
from beneath the Flintstones comforter with your Rayovac flashlight, a
Lane Bryant catalog, and a beatific grin, baby!!!!

Physical love is dead and the forensic evidence distills the
perpetrators down to a Tom, Larry or Lars!!!

I can't love you

I can't love you

I can't love you

Only poetry can save me but you versify like you
fuck........................PROSaically, baby!!!

Oh, j'erk Tom My Non-plussed..................................Only
when I "cull dat sac" of yours, can physical love never be a dead end
baby!!!

Idiomatic, idiosyncratic, or just plain idiotic............j'erk Tom,

You hold on and in your own self admitted ham-handed

Gotta quibble here. Burning bras was a one-time event that IIRC took place
as a feminist political protest against the Miss America Pageant. It had
absolutely nothing to do with "Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll." The idea was
to protest the phony ideals of female beauty which the pageant represented
(vacuous smiles and perky tits). Obviously it didn't work very well, if
your generation thinks of it as a "girls gone wild" thing.

I don't think people are looking very far.

"The Confession" by Laura Nyro, off her "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession".
"Love my love thing, love is surely gospel".

I suspect it will turn out to be women who had the most sexually explicit
lyrics, but I am just guessing at that. It seems to me that a lot of the
songs being mentioned aren't all that explicit in lyrics, just the topic
they are dealing with is relatively bold (at least for the times).
