"Cindy's Birthday" - Johnny Crawford

If they didn't play this, it's to their credit. One of the worst records
ever made, IMO.

I know I heard all of these on NYC radio during the 60s. It's possible I
only heard them on WMCA, but still hard to believe. "Moon River," in
particular, seemed to be ubiquitous. I remember that because I didn't like
it!

- can't say i'd consider anyone _blameworthy_ for failing
to give "my ding-a-ling" a second play; but are there any
amongst the above ten you'd recommend searching for now ?

- most producers and djs who bother to programme singles
from the sixties now, seem to know very little about the
vast range they could be choosing from, and simply select
well-known "golden oldies" from the published charts - and
there's a fair few fine singles that made the lower reaches
as've seldom - if ever - been heard on air since the month
they were released.
there are a couple of honourable exceptions to this, but
it's sad so much good music's seemingly doomed to fade away.

- what mostly forgotten minor hits or ignored misses would
you give repeated plays if you had a daily hour on-air ?

- love, a ppint. as's now got most of the collection listed
on 45cat.com, and can devote more time to discussions there.

"Cherry Hill Park" - Billy Joe Royal
Different songs for different reasons, I'm sure.

I was told by the late Jim O'Brien that WFIL, Philadelphia banned
"Cherry Hill Park" for its suggestive lyric, "...such a thrill after
dark;" apparently missing the double entendre of the title! He said
he thought that because Cherry Hill, N J was right across the river,
it never occured to the P.D.
