So, what's the inside scoop with this artist? In one Top 40 edition,
Joel claims (3) songwriters "(see below)", but nowhere to be found,
worked in Larry's workplace building and selected him, of all people, to
sing the song, because of his Southern drawl. But in a later edition,
that story was canned and it just states Larry was a novelty singer!!!

I figured I'd ask you experts that don't write books!!!

Thanks!

Actually, the posting does indeed in a way have relevance: tomorrow's
date--June 25--will mark the 133-year anniversary of The Battle Of Little
Bighorn in southern Montana (or, as the Native American Lakota Sioux called
it, Battle Of The Greasy Grass Creek)--where George Armstrong Custer fell
along with some 267 other soldiers.

My solo, acoustic, 6-string guitar version of one of the great instrumentals
(although Country Music superstar Sonny James put lyrics to it in the early
1960s) of the Pop/Rock Era, "Apache."

And here's the whole thing, for those who want more than just a
mangled "snippet".

I remember a TwiLight Zone show about some modern day soldiers having a
chance encounter with Indians at the Little Big Horn on June 25th. Not sure
of the year, hehe. This was another great episode, in a long line...

Thanks for sharing that, Ken.

What I thought was almost synchronistic was how Mr. Custer was
being discussed in here almost to the day, 133 years later!

"Narrator: June 25th, 1964 - or, if you prefer, June 25th, 1876.
The cast of characters in order of their appearance: a patrol of
General Custer's cavalry and a patrol of National Guardsmen
on a maneuver. Past and present are about to collide head-on,
as they are wont to do in a very special bivouac area known as the Twilight
Zone."

I figured I'd ask you experts that don't write books!!!
I figured I'd ask you how you got "Mr. Custard" out of "Mr. Custer."

Are you really that clueless?

I always liked this song, the few times I've heard it, almost always
on WCBSFM's now-extinct top 20 countdown. There are some quite witty
lines that made me giggle out loud on each hearing.

I was in a project with someone some years ago, and it was going
well. I had just read DDE's book on the Bulge, and told the other
guy: it's a good plan, DDE says we ought to stick with a plan that's
good". The other guy replied: "That's all very well, but if you're
General Custer and surrounded by 10,000 Indians it's time for a new
plan." I always remember that comeback whenever I sense myself being
too stubborn about something that isn't working.
