PITTSBURGH —
Bill Burkette, who was the original lead singer of American vocal group The Vogues, died Thursday at the age of 75.

The group was formed in 1958 at the old Turtle Creek High School, calling themselves the Val-Aires.

Burkette helped bring the quartet to national prominence with hit songs 'You're The One' and 'Five O'Clock World' in 1995. Other popular songs include 'My Special Angel' and 'Turn Around Look At Me.'

The Vogues appeared on American Bandstand, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson and The Mike Douglas Show.

Burkette still went on tour with The Vogues. His last performance was in Tucson in April 2017.
